Jaipur: The Ministry of Health has provided sanctions 886 new beds for neonatal intensive care units (Nicus) in hospitals attached to medical colleges throughout the state to combat the possibility of a surge in Covid-19 cases among the third wave of pandemic.
This step will increase the number of nicu beds in the state of 604 to 1490 in the state.
The Minister of Health of Raghu Sharma said, “At the 15 state medical colleges, the state has 475 nicu beds in 2020, which has increased to 604.
A total of 120 new beds are being installed and 766 are in the pipe,” in the SMS Medical College at Jaipur, nicu beds increased from 212 to 237 and 240 beds were more installed.
He said more beds would be added to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (Picus).
The country has 174 trigger beds in 2020 and now has 292 beds.
“The work adds 282 more beds for PICUS ongoing.
We have proposed more than 535 beds for Picus, which will take the total number of beds to 1,109 in the state,” he said further.
