New Orleans: Hurricane Ida knocked down the power to the entire city of New Orleans, hours after blowing up to land as one of the most powerful storms ever about the US, the Orleans New Orleans government official said.
The city’s domestic security office & emergency readiness to say on Twitter that Energy Company Enygy confirmed that New Orleans had no power, and that the only strength in the city came from the generator.
Messages include screen catches that quote `disaster transmission damage ‘for power failure.
National weather service said Ida, who came to land as a strong Category 4 storm, has weakened to a category 3 storm with a sustainable wind up to 115 mph (193 kph) when his eyes moved to the west of the city.
Ida made a landing at the beginning of the day in Louisiana with a stronger wind than 150 mph (240 kph), blew the roof and flooded the coastal community with strong storm waves.
It came ashore on the same date Hurricane Katrina destroyed Louisiana and Mississippi 16 years earlier.
