Idol ‘Ashtadhatu’ Dewi Sita Curian from the Temple

Kanpur: Idol ‘Ashtadhatu’ Ancient Dewi Sita and other brass idols including Lord Ram and Lakshman were stolen from the Thakurdwara Temple in Kamalpur Maharajpur on Tuesday night.
Thakurdwara was ancestral temple attached to the home of one Bachcha Singh.
He is also a temple guard.
The incident was revealed when Bacha Singh woke up on Wednesday morning, and found the main door found open and the Sanctorum key was broken.
Bachcha Singh, caregiver, said that after ‘Aarti’ on Tuesday night, Sarwan Tiwari Village Imam came home after locking the temple.
Bachcha Singh was sleeping on his home next to the temple.
The incident was revealed at 5 am on Wednesday.
Bachcha Singh also told investigators that about fifteen years ago there was also theft at the temple.
“Then the idol made of Ashtadhatu Rama and Lakshman was stolen.
The thieves could not take the Ashtadhatu idol from Sita,” he said.
In theft information at the temple, the Maharajpur police station was responsible for reaching the place and investigation beginning.
The In-Charge Police Station Maharajpur Raghavendra Singh said that the incident was being investigated.
“Immediately the thieves will be in the police net,” he added.
