New Delhi: The AAP government on Tuesday defended his decision to reduce legal age to drink in the capital.
It opposes the pill submitted in the Delhi High Court in this matter.
“If someone can choose at the age of 18, to suggest that above 18 can’t drink is to live in the ivory tower.
Just because it’s allowed to drink people who don’t mean drunk driving are also permitted.
There are laws to prevent drunk driving And this is being enforced, “said Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi to the chairman of the Judge DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh.
The government refers to drunk driving because the organization submits a request called ‘community against Drunken Driving’.
Application raises concerns that reduce the age of 25 to 21 years can cause more cases of drunk driving and seek mandatory age checks in places that sell and serve alcohol, including bars, pubs, liquor vends and food and drink outlets.
The request wants the government to place a strong mechanism for mandatory age checks in liquor stores, bars and restaurants that serve alcohol with government identity cards and also try to hold the Delhi government so that it does not affect the new 2021-22 excise policy that is reduced age consuming Alcohol from 25 to 21 years until a strong age verification mechanism is enforced.
The AAP government states that this is an attempt to stop policies under one excuse or another.
The applicant claimed that the pill was submitted after the government failed to take action in the previous petition submitted by him in 2017 where the court had directed the country to form a policy during alcohol checking.
The request also searched for that “the government is controlled from giving effects on the recent amendments made in excise rules that allow the delivery of liquor at the door until the strong age verification mechanism is institutionalized even for door delivery.”
