CALANGUTE: If tourists can come and celebrate their festivals in Goa by partying and dancing, we also have to celebrate our festival, Port minister Michael Lobo said on Saturday.
Speaking at the launch of the ‘Akash Kandil’ contest in Parra, he said Goans must also celebrate the future celebration season when observing the Covid safety protocol.
“Now we emerge from the worst days of Covid pandemic, we think we should start celebrating our traditional festival again with the lights festival, Diwali,” Lobo said.
“Lighting ‘Akash candlestick’ indicates hope when it lights up in our house.
Many businesses are usually busy as long as Diwali is very affected because last year is not celebrated.
People have to restart because things will get better.”
