Bhubaneswar: An Institute of Education and Research Institute (Iiser) India, is a whole winning a gold medal at Igem 2021 for the ‘best diagnostic project’.
International Genetically Engineered Machine (IGEM) is a non-profit organization that works towards synthetic biological advances.
Bachelor students 15 members who come from various disciplines that provide interdisciplinary touches on the project to detect antibiotic resistant strains in TB known as (MDR) -TB.
“This fast molecular diagnostic kit can detect TB and then analyze the antibiotic resistance so that it identifies whether it is MDR-TB or not.
We have designed our kit in such a way that it can be easily implemented in all parts of India including in the long distance with little or without facilities Diagnostics in advance at an affordable cost, “said Prajwal Patil, a 4th year student and also the team leader.

Detecting MDR-TB In the early stages and distinguishing it from normal TB will save the patient’s time and hospital sources to treat TB.

We hope that the initial and affordable detection capabilities of our kit will help improve the quality of life of TB patients and reduce the spread of MDR-TB by taking initial steps after detection.
