IIT Explores the Feasibility of Preparing Engineering College in Cargil

Cargil: High-level IIT Team on Monday visited here to check the feasibility of establishing a technical college in this Ladakh district, officials said.
The team consists of IIT-Delhi directors, Prof.
V Ramgopal Rao, Iit-Bombay Prof.
Subhasi Chaudhuri and Iit-Kanpur Prof.
Abhay Karandikar.
The team interacts with officials and students to explore the opportunity for fellowship for Union regional students in various IITs too, the spokesman said.

Overcoming the meeting, Rao said Lieutenant Governor Ladakh R Mathur during his final visit to Iit-Delhi discussed the possibility of establishing a technical college in Cargil.
“The purpose of a team visit is to find out the land reality about the feasibility of the formation of technical universities in the district and to assess students’ interest in engineering,” he said.
Professor M Balacrishnan from computer science and the IIT-Delhi Engineering Department talked about the challenges faced by students in remote areas and emphasized that students must go outside for study and more opportunities.
While responding to students’ questions, Director of Iit-Bombay talked about various branch techniques and career prospects in it.

Carandikar talks about the annual fellowship program in the IIT program, incubation and innovation and an internship with IIT for Ladakh students.
Later, the Board of Directors also visited the degree of Government College, Cargil, where the Deputy Principal told them about the entire function and various courses delivered on campus.
He said around 2,000 students currently enroll in college while 30 permanent teaching assistants and 23 provide their teaching services in universities.
The team interacts with campus students and Polytechnic College, Cargil and told them about various aspects of the component of the alliance, the official said.
They also asked for feedback about their interest in the fellowship program, he added.
Previously, Karkil Head Education officer told the school student registration team in this district.
He said that 32,000 students learned in various schools in the district, where 3,000 pursued their studies in the flow of science.
The CEO also said there were currently 22 governments and two private high schools that functioned in the district.
Officials said IITS partnered with the Ministry of Higher Education, Ladakh to review various aspects of technical education to increase the chances of the youth of the Union and Entrepreneurship Union.
This partnership aims to explore ways to promote innovation and entrepreneurship that focus on local ecosystems, skills development to increase job opportunities, improve the quality of education to increase higher education opportunities and also to establish a quality engineering institution in Ladakh, they said.
They say ‘expression of interest’ which will be resolved based on the results of various meetings with stakeholders, is expected to be signed between the IIT consortium and the Ministry of Higher Education, Ladakh before Governor Lahah Ladakh on September 22.
Detailed action plans with a schedule will be prepared further based on the signed EOI, officials said.
