Guwahati: IIT Guwahati took the lead in Rankings Rankings Rankings Rankings (NIRF) National announced by Education Minister Union Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday.
Premier Institute of Technology Mastered the top 10 in the “Engineering” and “Overall” category.
IIT Guwahati has maintained its position in the technical category by reaching seventh this year, while it has slipped by one place to eighth in the “Overall” category in NIRF 2021.
In the category of “research” which was only introduced, IIT Guwahati reached ninth rank.
“This is a reflection of special efforts by the Faculty, staff, and institute students despite pandemics.
This is clearly reflected in the overall ranking and techniques for the past few years and seen in international rankings too,” said Director Iit Guwahati Prof.

Highlighting the academic plan and research for the coming year, Sitharam said the Institute had worked on several academic and industrial fronts to attract the best brains throughout the world and industry leaders, which have been given appointments and faculty members who visited.
This, he said, has intensified academic collaboration and industrial interactions, allowing more technology transfer and better publication.
“This also resulted in attracting higher research funds, opening schools and new academic interdisciplinary centers and involved closer to government organizations for social relevant projects and implement NEP2020,” Sitharam added.
IIT Guwahati is the only academic institution in India which occupies a place among the top 100 universities – under 50 years – ranked by London-based higher education (The) in 2014 and continues to maintain its superior position.

IIT Guwahati obtained 41st ranked globally in the category of ‘research research per faculty’ and overall, 395 ratings in QS World University 2022 rank released recently.
Among other border fields of research and innovation, IIT Guwahati works to add to research initiatives of science in genomics, biology of development, health care and bioinformatics, flexible electronics, sophisticated functional materials, sustainable polymers, resilience and risk reduction, and sources Water power and management.
Among the leading state universities in NE, in the “Overall” category, University of Gautati (GU) secured 67th rating.
Among other leading central government institutions, the University of Tezpur (TU) and the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Silchar is ranked 73rd and 93 each in the same category, while North-Eastern Hill University ( Nehu) is ranked 90th.
In the “University” category, the top ranking agency from NE is GU (45), TU (46), Assam University (93), and Nehu (59).
In the “Engineering” category in Ne, Nit Silchar is ranked 48th, Nit Meghalaya 59th, and the Indian Information Technology Institute for Guwahati 73rd.
Nit Agartala is ranked 92nd in engineering.
National Law University and Yudicial Academy, Kamrup (Assam) are ranked 20th out of 30 entries among state legal institutions, while IIM Shillong is ranked 23rd in management.
