IIT-K, Univ from Queensland researchers found the main molecule to help fight inflammation

Times News Network Kanpur: Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K) and the University of Queensland (UQ) has published the results of international collaborative research that violates disease in inflammatory diseases.
This finding, published in ‘cell molecular’, peer-reviewed scientific journal about molecular biology and cells, turns on protein receptors, C5AR2, which plays an important role in the moderation of many immune and inflammatory processes and explores its use as Jakarta.
The target of potential therapy to treat some chronic inflammatory diseases.
The study witnessed international collaboration between Professor Arun Shukla and Asuka Inoue from Tohoku University, Japan and Stéphane A Laporte of McGill University, Canada.
IIT-K claims as the first time the main molecule in the immune system has been identified which can help fight inflammation that leads to chronic inflammatory diseases.
These findings will help further research in novel drug molecules that can act on receptors for C5A, strong immune molecules related to inflammatory diseases related to cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, sepsis and even covid-19.
Director, IIT-K Prof.
Abhay Karandikar said, “We are optimistic that the research findings will lead to new light in the war against chronic inflammatory diseases.” University of Queensland, Professor Trent Woodruff said that this study investigated the part of the immune system responsible for the body’s natural response to pathogens and injuries, known as the ‘complementary system’.
He said, “When activated inappropriately, the system encourages inflammatory diseases such as sepsis, covid-19, stroke, heart attack, cancer and brain disease.
It is very challenging for researchers to understand how this protein is activated because of its unusual structure.” “Instead of clutch with cell signal proteins, C5AR2 relies on proteins that regulate the signal known as β-arrestin protein.
Our study investigates the interaction between C5AR2 and β-Arrestin proteins, during screening for molecules that activate the connection between the two.
We found a key signal Key and specific when C5AR2 is activated, which can increase the immune system response to inflammation, “added Prof.
Woodruff.
Professor Investigator with Arun Shukla said this finding provides further framework for β-arrestin protein exploration for their therapeutic modulation in disease.
“We are now working to advance the findings of this study into the disease model and potentially allow scientists to design novel drug molecules that target C5AR2 to treat inflammatory disorders”.
