PRAYAGRAJ: A group of specialists from CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (IITR), Lucknow came at Prayagraj and gathered water samples in the Ganga at different ghats on Monday evening amid the uproar over reports of figures being sprinkled in the river and being buried in the sand on its own banks. The samples would be assessed to assess whether the contamination has increased recently since bodies bathed in huge amounts for several days. Even the IITR group, in actuality, gathered water samples from various areas from Kanpur and Varanasi additionally. “We collected samples from several places on the petition UP Pollution Control Board and can review them on many parameters to examine grade of water,” stated senior chief scientist in CSIR-IITR, Lucknow, K C Kulbe. After attaining Prayagraj, the group members wearing PPE kits gathered samples from Shringverpur ghat and subsequently proceeded into Phaphamau ghat, the two areas where bodies were buried in sand. “Even though bodies have been buried in Phaphamau and Shringverpur ghats however there’s not any need to fear as Ganga water remains fine. Former regional officer of UP Pollution Control Board,” Mohammed Sikander stated,”Groundwater can be located at shallow depth on banks of the Ganga and is frequently only two feet beneath.
