Nagpur: Illegal abortion in Arvi took a fresh twist on Saturday when RS97.42 Lakh cash recovered from the residence of the Kadam family during the search.
The family is now behind the bar because of alleged their involvement in illegal abortion.
Cash is stored in the rooms on the first floor, where the Kadam family lives, in the same place which also accommodates their hospital.
About 54 bones and 12 baby skulls, blood bags and other burdensome materials have been confiscated from this place after a 13-year-old girl filed a complaint of rape and illegal abortion.
Three pine has been registered against members of the Kadam family, including one to keep the deer skin at home.
The police also found drugs expiration in the hospital.
SP Prashant Holkar, who oversees the probe under IG Cherring Dorje, said the Kadam family has used various pretext to prevent their residence, when the investigation committee and other probe teams from the Ministry of Health trying to find missing files and notes.
“The cash was unexpectedly found and seized before self-witnesses.
The Income Tax Department has been warned about cash, and they will investigate the legality of money found with the Kadam family,” SP said, adding some gold was also found during the search.
The police previously won the sonographic machine from the Kadam Hospital, and arrested half a dozen people in connection with illegal abortion.
Those who were arrested include Dr.
Recha Kadam and her husband Dr Neeraj, who was posted in a government hospital.
Police Wardha has also ordered Dr.
Neeraj’s parents, Dr.
Shailaja and Dr.
Kumar.
Senior Inspector of the Arvi Police Station Bhanudas Pidurkar said the awareness produced by the case of the Kadam Hospital has encouraged other gynecologists to remind the police about small patients who visited them with pregnancy and related problems.
Dr.
Ripal Rane, an obstetrician from Arvi, learned to tell the police after a 17-year-old girl approached him with a matter of pregnancy.
Arvi police have registered a violation of rape after the warning was heard by Dr.
Rane.
SP Holkar said the police had routinely met with the Gynecologist Association to remind them of the legal significance of the provisions of abortion and related laws.
“In 2021, we had an interactive session with the gynecologist where they were urged to notify the police about minors who visited them with complications related to pregnancy,” SP said.
