Kolkata: Kolkata Municipal Corporation Top Brass has dropped a lot in the building department officials for the task of shirking in limiting illegal construction threats.
Acting on the Council of KMC Administrator (BoA) Adviser, Commissioner of the City of Binod Kumar slapped the notification of performances in several assistant engineers of the Department of Building for allegedly failing to prevent illegal construction in various parts of the city.
If the accused engineer fails to provide a satisfying reply, the Commissioner can send these cases to the Civic body personnel department to start the disciplinary process.
The KMC building department also presents notifications to several promoters or individuals, asking them to produce legal papers related to the construction of a flat or building that is ongoing in various parts of the city.
In fact, following tweaks in the rules of the building and as instructed by the Chairperson of the KMC Board Administrator Firhad Judge, the Department of Civic Buildings Brass has asked executive engineers to oversee each construction under their jurisdiction.
“We have asked our Borough executive engineers to tie the assistant or sub-assistant engineer to keep the vigil on each construction in Borough.
If they find something suspicious, they must report the same thing to us without delay.
We will check the construction paper Valid and start demolition of illegal construction within a week, “said a KMC senior official official.
“We have prepared an initial list of buildings under construction in some sensitive areas where a large number of buildings are built without taking care of our building rules.
