Gurgaon: The forest department destroyed nine structures, including two farms, built illegally in Aravalis in Gwaldahari on Thursday.
About 16 hectares of forest land have been spread by structures in the area, which are under 4 and 5 of the Punjab Land Protection Act (PLPA), 1900.
There are no non-forest activities that are not permitted in the area.
Apart from two farm houses, five boundary walls and two nurseries were also destroyed.
The department has destroyed nine structures in the same area on Wednesday.
This step came after the Supreme Court on July 23 ordered the government Haryana not to set aside illegal structures in Aravalis, including agricultural houses, commercial companies, and religious structures, while hearing demolition requests in Khori Village.
In Gurgaon, this is the first demolition drive so far after SC directive.
“We are dismissing at this time.
Some illegal structures have emerged in the Aravali area in recent years.
We destroyed nine illegal strictures on Wednesday.
We will do demolition in the next few days in other regions too,” Karambir Malik said, Jungle range officer, Gurgaon.
Kanwal Forest Minister PAL Gujjar has last said a total of 60 illegal farm houses built in Aravalis – 50 in Faridabad and 10 in Gurgaon – between 2000 and 2020.
But according to the forestry department survey, at least 500 farm houses have been built.
Illegally in the land of Aravali in Gurgaon, concentrated in areas such as GwalPahari, Gairatpur, Sohna, Raisina and Manesar.
Similar demolition drives are also being carried out at Aravalis Faridabad.
Meanwhile, the survey was being carried out in two districts using drones in illegal structures in Aravalis.
These include 7,019 hectares of forest areas in Gurgaon and 8,688 hectares in Faridabad.
