In the written order for the Vasco police inspector, MMC has stated that, “it has been given to the notifications that are signed below that many people are involved in fish storage and selling fish in MMC jurisdiction within 1 km of the existing city fish market..” Orders showed the activity was illegal under the part of Goa City Law Daman and Diu, 1968 and in the case of bye-law 2 [ii] of the storage or sale of bye-law meat or fish, 1971.
“The triangle fish vendor has with Strictly demanding illegal sales to be banned.
The provisions below the city law also talk about the same thing.
We have instructed our assistant inspector to start taking action if they found the sale of fish even though our order, “Tari Toi said.
Demand was made by traditional fish vendors when the MMC authority asked them to turn to the temporary warehouse because the new market was proposed to be built.
Vendor opinions are that if they shift, many others will enjoy the sale of illegal fish at some point.
