Mumbai: The Urban Development Department has told all local bodies in this country including BMC not to destroy unauthorized structures, slums and encroachment on the government, semi-government, and private land during the rainy season from June 1 to September 30.
29, the department has said if demolition is carried out during the rainy season, residents become homeless and they must take place at home.
It adds to the pressure on these residential houses, the dismantling of illegal structures and slums should not be done at the Monsun.
Circular said the state-level committee to control homeless people also made this recommendation.
The direction issued by the Deputy Secretary, Shankar Jadhav, from UDD refers to a previous circular issued by state income and the Ministry of Forestry in 2001 which has requested local bodies to stop the demolition of slums, illegal structure and encroachment during the rainy season.
