LONDON: The first person in the world to be given a completely tested Covid-19 vaccine, British Margaret Keenan aged 91 years, urged people on Wednesday to get vaccination, one year from his kick.
Keenan described receiving the Pfizer-19-19 pfizer vaccine on December 8, 2020 as “the best thing ever happened”.
“It’s amazing.
I don’t believe it now, what happened at that time.
I’m very glad I got Jab,” Keenan, known as friends as Maggie, said in a broadcast clip to mark warnings.
“I encourage everyone to have it.” Prime Minister Boris Johnson has highlighted the initial success of England in launching the Covid-19 vaccine and said that was why he could reopen the British economy in July.
He now urges officials to improve the ongoing Booster program to the same level as the initial launch remembering concerns over the new Omicron variant, which has also seen it reintroduce several mask masks and restrictions on trips.
“The vaccine remains our first and best defense line against the virus,” Johnson said.
England has now provided nearly 120 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine to a population of 67 million, both as the first dose, second dose or as a booster.
Scientists are worried that Omicron may be more contagious than the dominant Delta variant and has a mutation associated with the effectiveness of a lower vaccine.
Health Secretary Sajid Javid has said that booster must continue to offer good protection against severe illnesses even if shots are less effective against omicrons than the previous variants.
Hopefully Parsons, nurses who are vaccinated by Keenan, say that many people are now severely ill at the Covid-19 ward is not vaccinated.
