Panaji: More than five years after the government approved the creation of GIS-based Master Plan for the country’s capital and neighboring villages, Imaginepana Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) finally moved to appoint a consultant who would prepare a masterplan.
IPSCDL wants a consultant to survey an area of ​​91.7 SQKM, which includes a panaji and an area that side by side as part of the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (Amrut) from the UNI Ministry of Urban.
Smart City Mission Officer said that IPSCDL would get a city base map design from the National Distance Sensing Center (NRSC) which will then be given to consultants to integrate data on demographics, infrastructure, facilities, land and land of government, social-economic facilities and other inputs .
As part of the reform of the mission of amruptions, urban local bodies must prepare city planning plans and city levels, including masterplan preparation using GIS.
Masterplants provide the basis for providing infrastructure, effective land use management and utilization, spatial growth management, enabling project planning, and urban management.
The masterplan design needs to be in accordance with the outline development plan and regional plans prepared by the City and State Planning Department.
“The horizon year for the masterplan draft will be 2041,” said an official.
According to available data, the Ministry of Housing and Urban (Mohua) has released the first installment of Rs 23.7 lakh to IPSCDL under the sub-scheme of the formulation of the Local Region (LAP) and the City Planning Scheme (TPS) under the emengut.
The State High-powered Steering Committee (SHPSSC) has approved the Master Plan repair using GIS in the State Annual Action Plan (Pocket) in January 2016.
In 2017, IPSCDL announced that it had begun to set up a GIS-based masterplant by integrating Geo -dataspatial with a door-to-door survey .
The aim, said then the Director of IPSCDL Implementation Swayandipta Pal Chaudhuri, is to increase tax collection and prevent income leakage.
Corporation of Panaji City (PKC) has prepared a City Development Plan (CDP) in 2007 and in 2013, Criminal Risk Infrastructure revised the CDP with funding obtained through the JNNURM scheme.
