Agra: The eight-year-old girl was sexually allegedly by the 52-year-old Imam in the Mosque in the Kishani area in Mainpuri on Wednesday night.
The defendant was arrested by the police.
According to the police, Jamal Ahmad, who came from Barabanki, has lived in the mosque for the past 10 years.
He taught students from his community and also prayed at the mosque.
On Wednesday night, he had asked the girl students to stay back for an additional class after he concluded his class with other students.
Then, the defendant took him to a room where he was suspected of sexual abuse.
The victim told his mother about his trial after he arrived at home.
Madhuban Kumar Singh, additional SP, said FIR has been listed under the Section 376 (Rape) of the IPC and the provisions of the Pocso Law at the Kishani Police Station.
The girl has been sent for examination and medical care.
