Thane: The Meteorology Department of India issued a ‘orange warning’ in Thane and Navi Mumbai on Wednesday.
Intense rain spells are very likely to occur in isolated places, weather forecasting institutions predicted.
On the other hand, Mumbai, who was previously placed in the Orange Damn Warning Slot, has now been revealed to the yellow alert.
“Medium rain spells to intense are very likely to occur in isolated places,” said IMD.
The Civic Mumbai Agency also shares that there is a possibility that strong winds occasionally reached 45-55 kmpj to 60 kmps in several regions.
The rain brought havoc in Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai and Palghar on July 18-19, with waterlogging reportedly crossed the cities and at least 42 people lost their lives for the incident related to rain.
While rainfall slightly subsided for Mumbaikars on Tuesday, the neighboring area of Thane and Navi Mumbai continued to accept short but intense spells throughout the day.
On Wednesday, several areas in the Thane district including Kalyan, Dombivli, Ulhasnagar and Badlapur saw heavy rain in the early hours.
Covid-19 vaccination drive has also been suspended until further notice by the Civic Thane Agency to avoid unwanted incidents and discomfort for beneficiaries because of the unrelenting rain.
