Mumbai: The Indian Meteorology Department (IMD) has predicted rainfall ‘heavy to very heavy’ in the next three-four days in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and several other parts of Maharashtra.
IMD on Sunday issued a yellow alert for Mumbai with heavy rain estimates in city isolated places for the next two days.
Mumbai City has received 82 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours ending 8 am on Sunday.
The eastern suburbs recorded 47 mm and the western edge recorded 56 mm of rainfall, according to BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The weather department has predicted rain very heavy until September 15 under orange warnings for the Palghar region.
For the Thane District, local officials must remain ready to take a heavy bath until Wednesday.
Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Nasik, Pune, Satara and Kolhapur District are expected to receive heavy shower in remote places for the next two days.
The weather department has also issued a yellow warning for Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Amravati, Akola, Yavatmal, Buldhana, and Washim until September 13.
Orange warning with IMD means “Prepare to face any situation arising from severe weather conditions” while the yellow signal of the authority to “realize” danger.
The Meteorology Department has suggested fishermen to return to the beach after a heavy warning to a very heavy rain.
Fishermen are advised not to explore the north coast of Maharashtra until September 15 and the South-Maharashtra coast until September 14.
