Immediately, Chennai Airport to get an open air market, landscape

Chennai: The city airport experience may be more than just landing and taking off.
The Indian Airport Authority (AAI) plans to establish open shops and markets such as ‘Haat’ in the 15 hectare room in front of the terminal after the car park is transferred to a multi-level parking lot at the end of the year.
It will also increase non-confinstitution and offer space for visitors and passengers to hang out.
Sharad Kumar Airport Director said the proposal was prepared and sent to headquarters for sanctions.
“This will be an informal setting where passengers and visitors can relax, shop and take a walk and spend time.” There will be shops, restaurants, restaurants, and lots of open space, he said.
All areas of landscape and lighting will be done using various designs for people to walk.
People who come to accept passengers can also spend time if they reach the beginning, he said.
Aai plans to open a multi-level car parking complex at the end of the year.
These two complexes will also have malls like shopping, multiplex and hotel.
Multi-level car parking and landscape area in front of the terminal will help AAI make the most of the city side area to generate income from passengers and visitors, and also increase aesthetics when the new terminal is ready for commissioning.
This will be the first significant development on the city side because AAI has done developments on the air side such as straightening taxiways, building taxis out quickly and other jobs.
The airport expects boom in passenger traffic as soon as restrictions, to curb the spread of Covid, is a relaxed and vaccinated journey into the norm.
