Immediately, driving against rain harvesting violations in Gurgaon

Gurgaon: The newly appointed nodal officer to oversee the harvesting of rainwater (RWH) in Gurgaon will start the drive to enforce RWH norms from July 8.
The drive will check the RWH site functionality and will be carried out in three phases – the first phase will cover the sector 58 to 69 , the second will cover areas under the corporation of the city of Manesar and the third will cover sectors along the Dwarka toll road.
Earlier this week, Deputy Gurgaon Commissioner Yash Garg appointed the District City Planner (Enforcement) Batth Hospital as the Nodal Office to oversee the harvesting of rainwater in the city.
The law enforcement team to do a drive will be led by Batth and will include officials from Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran, a city of Gurgaon and Manesar, the city and state and police planning department and police.
In a meeting held on Friday, Batth told the officials that the team would examine the availability and functionality of RWH factories in a large group housing community, plotted colonies and commercial companies and institutions during the trip.
“Strict punishment will be imposed on violators under the environmental protection law, 1986.
The drive will be carried out in three phases in the Gurgaon-Manesar urban complex,” Batth said.
In the first phase, which will be carried out between July 8 to 18, companies in the sector 56 to 69 will be examined.
These sectors have mostly have housing communities and colonies plotted.
In the second phase, companies that fall under the corporate jurisdiction of Manesar City will be included from July 19 to 26.
The third phase will focus on residential communities along the Dwarka toll road from July 27 to August 1.
According to the Haryana building code, 2017, the owner of each building must ensure that the harvesting structure of the rainwater is maintained and repaired for storing water for purposes that cannot be taken and refilling ground water at any time.
BATTH said the ‘award certificate’ will be issued for group housing communities, plan colonies, commercial companies and industrial arrangements in each phase that have a fully functional rainwater harvesting structure, the storage capacity specified and cleanses the structure before the monsoon every year.
