Pune: Immediately, those who intend to update their SIM or need a duplicate driving license, will be able to do it without stepping into the regional transportation office (RTO).
The state transportation department works on an online system to facilitate uploading documents on the portal parahan and eliminate the need to visit the office to send hard copies.
“The plan is being worked on.
From what we know, the entire system will be integrated with Aadhar numbers to make a simpler verification process.
The plan must be implemented in a few months, or even before,” said an official from Pune RTO.
At present, the applicant must access the ‘Sarathi’ tab on the Parifahan portal and upload various documents before paying fees.
Then people must visit the RTO office concerned to submit a copy of the document.
“The same procedure is followed if someone wants a duplicate license.
With a new process, they will only apply to online and, at RTO’s office satisfaction, a new license will be sent by post.
Medical certificate, which will be produced if there is a license update, it will also be sent Online.
We are a little worried about this aspect as a physical verification of whether the person is fit very important.
However, we believe that the Department of Transportation must consider several ways to deal with this, “another official said.
Last month, the transportation department introduced two systems – facilities to appear for students’ license tests from home and fully online vehicle registration process for dealers.
However, with the case of the License Applicants for students seeking intermediary assistance, which emerged for tests on behalf of the exam participants, department officials said that they were developing an artificial intelligence-based system to stop using unfair ways.
“The process is under development and will soon be launched.
This will help eradicate the use of all unfair ways when giving a learning license test from the house.
It must be launched later this month.
We will ensure that all gaps regarding online licensing are completed and transparent systems,” said an official transportation department.
