Chennai: Coming summer, tourists can take the east coast road (ECR) for lunch or eat at a floating restaurant in Muttukadu or drive to MudaliKuppam to stay at home.
Tamil Nadu Nadu Development Corporation (TTDC) launched this facility in April-May next year.
In Mudaliarchuppam, the boat house will have three bedrooms and, above the deck above, a restaurant is open.
The boat house will go around the backwaters on a cruise ship for a short hour during the day.
After dusk, it will dock in the middle of the backwaters with overnight guests.
Jetty floating is also planned at the mouth of the river in MudaliKuppam.
The Chengalpet district government has transferred 20 hectares of land in Mudaliarkuppam to the Department of Tourism to change the place to be the destination of the beach-edge beach tail which is located about 92 km south of the city.
In Muttukadu, a 100-foot floating restaurant will welcome visitors.
While the lower deck will be air-conditioned, the upper deck is an open area.
Food will be prepared in a floating restaurant with a capacity to accommodate 100 people at a certain time.
Houseboat and Floating Restaurant will be an additional attraction in the ECR decorated with various entertainment hotspots including amusement parks and heritage structures told UNESCO in Mamallapuram.
Managing Director of TTDC Sandeep Nanduri said that steps were taken to introduce facilities in four months.
“We float requests for proposals for boat houses and floating.
It will be executed in public-private partnerships,” he added.
M Charles, the Presidential President guided the South Indian Federation, said that this initiative would have traction between business travelers and international company travelers, who wanted to explore Chennai and Puduchers by extending their stay for several days.
They prefer to stay at home, not a hotel for a day, he added.
