Guwahati: The Government Government will launch the fourth edition of the Indradhanush 4.0 intensive mission, for immunization of pregnant women and children amid the covid threat covering six northeastern countries from February.
Children up to two years will be borne in this drive.
Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya launched an event from New Delhi on Monday.
Health Minister Assam Keshab Mahanta, who participated virtually, said the government planned to provide six doses of lakh every year below this program.
The inaugural event was held in the presence of state health officials and the United States (UTS).
Health Minister Gujarat Rushikesh Patel also participated.
“We will achieve a six-lakh vaccination target in a year by including children and pregnant women from all parts through the Special Intensive Intensive Initiative with Indradhanush 4.0 together with regular vaccination drives,” said Manganta from the Azara Block Primary Health Center in Kamrup.
The mission starts on December 25, 2014, to provide vaccinations that will protect children from a number of diseases such as diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, tubercosis, hepatitis-B, polio and measles.
Later, on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, IMI was launched on October 8, 2017.
“India applies the largest immunization program in the world where we consume more than 3 crore pregnant women and 2.6 crore children through universal immunization program (UIP ), “said Mandaviya.
Mandaviya said that while the rates of regular immunization slowed because Covid, he hoped IMI 4.0 would be very helpful in filling the gap.
“This will ensure that routine immunization services (RI) reaches children who are not vaccinated and some are vaccinated and pregnant women,” he said.
IMI 4.0 will be carried out in 416 districts, including 75 districts identified for Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, in 33 states and UT in the country.
In the first round (April 2022), 11 countries will conduct IMI 4.0.
It is Assam, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tripura, and Chhattisgarh.
Others (22 countries) will conduct e rounds from April to 2022 May.
