Nagpur: After being the first in the state to reduce the examination and other costs due to the Pandemic Covid-19, the Nagpur University is ready to offer insurance to cover costs for the entire duration of the course in the event of the death of the parent or legal guardian.
In addition, students will also get insurance incidentally, hospitalization and death from NU from the new 2021-22 academic session that began this month.
The panel arranged by the NU Management Council (MC) under its members Vishnu Changde has prepared a detailed proposal where each student will be charged around RS30 every year for RS3 Lakh insurance to cover costs.
The panel will meet on Friday and Saturday to complete the insurance company.
On June 18, Toi was the first to report about NU’s plan offering insurance to students from the new session.
NU may be the only traditional university in Maharashtra where the students are not insured until now.
The MC panel has proposed to impose this amount after extensive discussion with companies that offer insurance and taking into account the number of students.
