In 2 years, recycled water for all industrial zones Sahibabad

Ghaziabad: With the thinning of ground water touching alarming proportions in Ghaziabad, a multi-crore waste treatment plant (TSTP), which will appear in Indirapuram, is expected to curb overexploitas, especially in the Sahibābad industrial area.
The chairman of the Yogi Adityanath minister in a virtual ceremony from Lucknow put the foundation stone for the 249-crore RS factory on Tuesday.
“TSTP is one of the first few in the country where waste water will be recycled and supplied to industrial units to use.
At present, similar plants are being used in Chennai and letters,” said Civil Heads Mahendra Singh Tanwar.
By thinning groundwater in alarming proportion in the region, the project is expected to end the dependence of industry on groundwater.
The project, he added, is expected to operate in two years.
Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC) has raised the city bonds of Rs 150 Crore for the project.
Under the project, a 56 MLD waste processing plant in Indirapuram will be increased to produce 40 recycled water, which will be supplied to more than 1,700 units in the Sahibabad Industrial area (SIA), which requires a total of 36 MLD.
“According to detailed project reports, we will produce 40 MB of recycled water and supply it through a water pipeline network 100 km to 1,765 industry in the area.
The industry will buy water at a cost of Rs 50 per 1,000 liters,” Tanwar said.
City-based environmental lovers say this project will help curb illegal extraction of groundwater in the area, which is already below the notification zone.
“This project will have a broad consequence in terms of the use of ground water which is rejected by the industry with impunity,” said Sushil Raghav, a city-based environmental lover.
Of the five blocks – Bhojpur, Loni, Muradnagar, Razapur and Ghaziabad – in the city, the water table drops under the category of ‘too many “at least three, while under the’ NoIFied ‘category in the city of Ghaziabad.” In the city of Ghaziabad, the consumption of ground water is 263.35%, followed by BHOJPUR (140.89%), Loni (132.92%) and Razapur (110.24%).
Muradnagar is the only block in Ghaziabad where groundwater consumption is 88.23% and falls under the ‘semi-critical’ category, “said Raghav.
Environmental lovers add that the thinning of the average ground water between 2016 and 2020 is 11 , 86 feet below the surface of the ground during the pre-monsoon period and at 6.55 feet during the post-monsoon period.
