Ahmedabad: In 24 hours it ends 5 pm on Monday, the city recorded 98 new Covid-19 cases.
This is the highest daily calculation for the city in the last 202 days, or six months.
With two cases of rural areas, new cases in Ahmedabad Regency reached 100, contributing almost half of the state counting in 204.
With the debit of only eight patients, active cases increased by 92, taking the total number of active cases to 396 – the highest in five last month.
Inpatient, however, remains low with 13 patients in private hospitals in the city and around 10 confirmed cases or allegedly in government hospitals.
Authorities say that the spread is very high in certain parts of the city and residents must break the infection chain by adhering to the appropriate behavior of Covid, including using a mask and maintaining social distance.
Other new cases in 24 hours include 33 in the city of Rajkot, 22 in the city of Letter, 16 in the city of Vadodara, four of each in the city of Gandhinagar and Kheda, among others.
With 65 patients dismissed against 204 new cases in the state, active cases shot past 1,000 to 1,086 in Gujarat.
The majority of cases are concentrated in the city area, said state health department officials.
The city of Jamnagar recorded a Covid death, taking the country’s official death toll 10,114.
Gujarat recorded 24 new cases of omicron variants, taking the total number to 73.
Of these, 17 has run out, while 56 is an active and isolated case in the hospital.
“Of the 24 new omicron cases, 15 are men and nine are women.
A total of seven cases do not have a travel history and are direct contacts of confirmed cases or independent cases,” said a senior health department official.
