In Assam, a new department to protect ‘custom faith’ and culture

Guwahati: The Assam Cabinet has cleared the deck for “the Ministry of Faith and Culture Custom” which will be the direct priority of the state which is flooded by illegal Muslim immigrants, officials said on Saturday.
Decisions are in line with repeated statements of government led by BJP that state demographics and customary culture requires protection from immigrant attacks.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said people “all indigenous religions” will reap the benefits of the scheme that will be launched by the new department.
“Our tribal people have their own language and culture.
They have their own beliefs.
But financial assistance from the government in a row to protect their tradition so far,” he told reporters.
“Because they do not have resources or the ability to mobilize donations to celebrate and preserve their traditions, the government has decided to preserve and protect their traditions with the support needed.” The community identified by the government for the scheme includes Bodos, Tea, Moran, Moto, Rabhas and Mishing.
“Our cabinet has asked the Minister of Finance to make a substantial budget allocation for the new department because this is a noble initiative,” CM said.
In another major decision on administrative and financial reform, Sarma said the cabinet had decided that the Department Committee would further approve the scheme with the allocation to RS 2 Crore.
It will remove the red ribbon and official assistance takes faster decisions about new projects, he said.
The Department Committee will be led by the department’s commissioner concerned.
For projects worth RS 2-5 Crore, the financial committee meeting stands, chaired by the main secretary, will be held every Friday.
Projects in the Band Crore RS 5-100 will go through a special stand financial committee led by the Minister of Finance.
The department commissioner will be a member secretary.
This committee meeting will be held every Thursday.
