New Delhi: Retail Inflation subsided slightly to a four-month low in August behind the softening food price and under the ribbon tolerance over the RBI for the second consecutive month.
Data from the National Statistics Office (NSO) which was released on Monday showed retail inflation, which was measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), by 5.3%, lower than 5.6% the previous month and 6.7% in August 2020.
The Food Price Index subsided to 3.1% in August compared with almost 4% in July.
Rural inflation at 5.3% during the month and urban inflation is at the same level.
Core inflation (minus food and fuel) fell 5.8% in August compared with almost 6% in July.
Inflation in oil and fat in August was 33% compared to 32.5% in July.
