Nagpur: Basic education in rural areas has been exposed to poor digital connectivity and even access, and now reopens the physical classrooms only for secondary school students has the potential to further increase the learning gap for the younger.
However, in Chandrapur, the Zilla Parishad school teacher has taken it to ensure that the students did not lose their studies.
Chandrapur District Education Officer Ulhas Narad said, “Our teacher rose to the villages throughout and landed in their student homes.
There they took regular classes, giving them assignments and following up on their next visit.” Visiting every day is not always possible For each teacher, depending on the distance they travel, therefore follow-up is carried out through homework and other practical tasks such as crafts etc.
“The teachers have taken it as a mission and that is this project is very successful.
We know many students in rural areas either do not have a smartphone or financial resources to recharge even if the connectivity is rather okay,” Narad said.
In addition, the teacher did not ask for special privileges after they reached out the villages of students.
Class is being taken in simple residential, pages or even on the sidewalk.
“These children need one-to-one interaction with their teacher.
The familiar faces are very important, especially for smaller children, because they need to learn without being edited by foreigners,” Narad said.
Because of the problem of telephone connectivity, Toi can’t contact some parents, but Narad claims they are happy with this project.
“Every parent, from every strata of the community, only wants the best for his child.
And his priority is education.
So the teachers are welcomed in each village and respect they order among every famous parents,” he said.
In Maharashtra, schools in rural areas can be reopened for physical classes if the village sarpanch gives permission.
Sarpanch has made the Head of the Special Committee at the Gram Panchayat level, which will approve the application to reopen the school by considering the Covid situation.
