New Delhi: The new automatic puzzle parking facilities will appear at Amar Colony Community Center, Lajpat Nagar-4.
This project tends to cost around Rs 14.9 Crore along with operating and maintenance costs for 10 years.
This will benefit the Lajpat Nagar-4 area which has several commercial zones and markets.
A senior civilian official said that the Amar colonial area was vulnerable to traffic congestion because it had a residential and market zone.
“This area is regularly visited by a large number of buyers and visitors who produce congestion on the road around the market zone because of the lack of adequate parking.
The project site for automatic parking has accommodated the center of the South Corporate Community and the Post Office, and has 1,428 sqm empty areas, “The official said.
The peripheral area of community hall is used for parking vehicles during any function that leads to chaos and congestion in the colony.
“The community center can accommodate 250-300 people at once, therefore, the estimated demand for parking space is for 75-80 cars.
There are other projects to establish pharmacy buildings in this complex, which will also produce parking requests,” the official said.
On Tuesday, the Permanent Committee of the Municipal South Delhi corporation approved the construction of automatic puzzle parking which could accommodate 81 vehicles.
The approved proposal will now be sent to the board members after that the tender will be invited.
Puzzle Parking is an automatic system that allows horizontal and vertical movement of parking spaces, such as puzzles, for parking and taking a car.
The multilevel puzzle parking system is adopted in a place where fewer space is available.
Earlier this month, SDMC has cleared the proposal to build multilevel parking facilities in Greater Kailash 2 and Punjabi Bagh Crematorium for cumulatively accommodating 450 cars.
Civic’s body was agreed last year, automatic multilevel parking construction approved by Rai Marg near Nizamuddin Basti.
