PANAJI: Even when school education has moved online for more than a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, fully the problem of the country with internet connectivity recently revealed, as a report of the Ministry of Union education stated that only 8.4% of 827 government schools in Goa have Internet connection.
In this aspect, Goa rates are worse than the national average for government schools, which is 11.5%, according to the Integrated District Information System Report for Education (U-DISE), 2019-20.
This makes the coverage of the state for government schools in this parameter comparable to those in Bihar and Chhattisgarh.
Some, such as Kerala and Delhi, boasts coverage of more than 85%.
More than 750 of the 827 Goa government schools are primary institutions, which are mostly without computer or internet connectivity, it seems that most are a factor in dragging this status on this parameter.
It also turns on the conditions in which government elementary school teachers may be left connected with students to continue teaching online during a pandemic.
The extensive gap between facilities in the work managed by the government and achievement and without assistance can be seen from the U-DISE 2019-20 data.
More than 76% of schools assisted and nearly 80% of schools without the help of the base level to the secondary level have Internet connectivity.
The coverage of internet facilities for schools assisted and without assistance is between six states and UT in this country.
When it involves the availability of operational computers at school, only 17.6% of goa government schools have one, also worse than the national average of 28.5%.
In comparison, almost 90% of schools assisted and 93.5% of schools without assistance in Goa have a computer or functional computer available.
According to data, Goa is the best in the availability of the basics in schools, with 100% throughout government and private management covered with facilities such as electricity, drinking water, hand washing, functional toilets for boys and girls.
All around 1,500 schools, including the government, also have their own library.
Except for six schools in Goa, others have tap or caring for water as a source of drinking water.
