New Delhi: In a step of surprise, the Trinamool MP Congress Arpita Ghosh resigned from Rajya Sabha on Wednesday with five years of his tenure.
His resignation was received by the Chairperson of Hospital M Venkaiiah Naidu, according to an official bulletin from home.
Interestingly, Ghosh backed his seat almost a year after joining the house on “instructions from parties” to make a way for heavy-class induction to the house, it was studied.
According to the source, the party asked Ghosh, who took an oath as a member of Rajya Sabha in 2020, to stop at the guarantee that “short-term losses will ensure long-term benefits for him”.
Ghosh began his political career with TMC in 2010 when he was among several civil society activists who joined the party after the Single and Nandigram movement.
Ghosh, who first won the Balurghat Lok Sabha constituency in 2014, was defeated from the same seats in the 2019 parliamentary election by BJP which won 18 from the state of the country.
