Hyderabad: Breaking the unauthorized whip of construction in its jurisdiction, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has destroyed 78 buildings and sealed 23 other structures in the last 10 days.
HMDA Metropolitan Commissioner and Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar said special drives were taken from January 17 and several buildings in Medchal, Shankerpally, Shamshabad and Ghatkesar were destroyed.
“In the first phase HMDA has taken the demolition of large buildings, which have appeared in a plot of 1,000 square meters and above, and has so far destroyed 78 structures and seized 23 buildings in various regions.
Special drives will continue further and unauthorized buildings What has been built in a small plot of 600 sq yds and above will also be destroyed in the phase, “said Arvind Kumar.
He said the illegal structure was destroyed in Shankerpally, Pchampally, Narcession, Kompal, Thumkunta, Shadnagar, Ibrahimpatnam, Thukuguda, Bandlaguda Cagir Corporation, Kothur Medhcal, Boduppal, Pedda Amberpet, Gudlapokampally Municipalities, Nizampet Municipal Corporation, Turkayamjal, Dhammaiguda, Nagaram, Pocharam, Ghatkesar , Bhuvangiri, Choutupal and Perzadiguda Municipalities which include housing, commercial buildings, warehouses and gas stations.
To ensure no reconstruction, instructions are issued to the city commissioner to be alert about the destroyed structure.
Building owners have also been warned that in case of reconstruction, they will be personally responsible and face severe acts.
HMDA Commissioner warns the general public not to buy a flat or office space in unauthorized buildings and to verify the details of the approval before each transaction.
