Mangaluru: In less than a year, a group of nine students studying in class from PU to the first year’s degree program, through the initiative of the Harapan Seeds launched in September last year, has contributed seven wigs for cancer patients.
About two years ago, Aadhya Sulochana Muliya was destroyed when he lost a teacher and a friend, after a brave battle with cancer.
He then decided to grow his hair, so he could donate hair for wigs for cancer patients.
Immediately, eight friends joined him.
Aadhya, a PU student in Shakti PU College, Mangaluru said: “We have done two hair donation camps in Putture and Karkala, where nearly 200 people have donated hair.
At present, we have enough hair stock for customized wig preparation.
”
Muliya Foundation, Puture began by his father Keshav Prasad Muliya, has sponsored a wig for cancer patients.
Every wig prepared in Bengaluru or Tamil Nadu costs around Rs 8,000, and students prefer 15-20 inches of hair as a donation because most of the patients prefer to have long hair.
