In ODF Goa, there is no data on open defecation in urban areas

Panaji: Goa is officially declared as a free defecation (ODF) free country in September 2019, but while it is not surprising to find people without access to the toilet, what concerns is the lack of government data about the number of houses without lavories.
.
The government has an interesting reply to be given during the Monsun session which has just been held by the Goa legislative assembly when the minister of Urban Development Millind rose questionable if he realized that defecation that still occurred in the city.
“There is no information available about defecating open in the city area,” said rising in his written reply.
While most cities provide information about the number of houses in their respective jurisdictions with toilet facilities, the City Council of Margao does not have data.
Has been asked to conduct surveys and provide individual household (IHHL) to every household.
An official from the urban development department said that Margao Municipality could not complete the task of providing a toilet to households under the government scheme where applicants could not provide room to establish facilities.
“Everywhere space is a problem, we will go to the community toilet.
The problem has been in a solid area, and there is no space available to build a toilet,” the official said.
He said this scheme was still open and those who did not have a toilet can register.
In all other city areas, work has finished.
Similarly, the City Council Mapapa also does not have data about the number of houses in its jurisdiction which has a toilet with septic tanks.
Under corporate jurisdiction of the City Panaji (CCP), according to the level of benchmarks, 85% of the area is covered under sewerage network services and according to the 2011 census, as many as 3,840 households have toilets with septic tanks with septic tanks.
The clerk said there might be some exceptions, but it was seen that even those who provided the rental room in Shanties provided toilet facilities for their tenants.
Builders are also required to provide sanitation facilities for workers living in construction sites.
A sanitation inspector regularly inspects, he said.
However, a Praveen citizen rose (the name changed) said that except for large real estate agents, smaller contractors did not provide their workers with toilets.
“Dispose of defecating commonly occur on the site.
Bathing workers along the road trip and dispose of waste in the open.
The civil body collects registered residence waste.
It is a suspicion where the waste must go?” Said the rise.
