In one, the city to get 4 STN to monitor noise

Gurgaon: The Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) has decided to regulate the noise monitoring station for the first time in the city.
The move occurred amid worries that developed the noise level that violated the boundaries permitted near hospitals and schools, officials said.
Until now, Gurgaon only recorded noise levels at the Gods and for several days after the festival.
Each of these stations, which will appear in four places, will have a real-time monitoring system and screen board.
The centralized system will monitor the noise level all the time.
“Yes, we plan to set up noise monitoring stations in Gurgaon,” Secretary of the HSPCB N Narayan member was confirmed.
HSPCB already has a network station for monitoring real-time air quality in the city.
The noise monitoring station will also appear in the same location – Sector 51, Teri Gram, Sitan Vikas and GwalPhari.
Just like the surrounding air quality index, the values of various parameters measured at noise monitoring stations will be transferred automatically through online data networks and stored in the central server system for later analysis.
“This project will help our department prepare a database, identify the sources of pollution noise and take adequate action against them,” said HSPCB official.
Officials agreed that noise mapping, although important for the city, was never done before.
“We don’t have the capacity to do such surveys,” he added.
According to the standard noise for cars, household appliances and construction equipment, which are notified in environmental rules (protection), 1986, noise levels should not be more than 55 dB in the housing sector, 65 dB in the commercial area and 75 dB in the industrial zone.
Close to sensitive areas such as hospitals, noise levels should not exceed 45 dB.
At night, the limit is 45 dB in a residential area, 55DB in the commercial zone and 70 dB in the industrial hub.
