Chennai: “I regret that I cannot fully destroy the feudal culture where you serve,” Sanjib Banerjee, Head of Madras High Court of Madras, told court staff in his farewell message.
I apologize for hours that you must save for me, he added in a two-page letter aimed at the bench, bar, registry and staff.
On Wednesday, two days after the center told his transfer to Meghalaya HC, justice Sanjib Banerjee went to Calcutta, his hometown, rejected separation.
In his farewell letter, he said, “To my colleague on the bench: I’m sorry.
First, because it can’t survive the distance and second, because I don’t say goodbye to you directly.” He wrote, “For some of you who might feel Offended by my actions, know that they have never been personal: I consider those actions needed for the institution.
” To Bar Members: You are the best in this country, he wrote.
He noted that he left the court with the happiest memory.
