In Sri Lanka, dangerous climb for online schools

Bohitiyawa: Getting online school lessons for this remote Sri Lanka Village requires traveling more than 3 kilometers (2 miles) in bushed bushes sometimes visited by leopards and elephants.
The teachers and around 45 school children in Bohitiwaya then climb the stone to access the only available internet signal.
Teacher Information Technology Nimali Anuruddhika uses a signal to upload lessons for students who have not been able to go to school because of Pandemic Covid-19.
Students who also live in the village make the same trip to download online lessons sent to them by their teacher.
Not all have cellphones or laptops, with four or five children sharing one device.
Their parents, most of whom are farmers, often accompany their children.
H.
Pathmini Kumari, who accompanied his son was sixth, said children climbed the stone twice a day and their safety was a big problem for parents.
The village in the middle-east part of the island country does not have basic facilities, and his children have studied at a government school, now it is closed, which is about 16 kilometers (10 miles) away.
In Lunugala Village, about 60 kilometers (37 miles) away, adults escort school children to mountainous tree houses in the forest reserve.
It’s about 30 feet tall and has internet access.
They took turns uploading their homework and downloaded the lesson plan.
Sri Lankan schools have been closed mostly since March 2020.
Authorities said they made every effort to provide all children access to education, but Joseph Stalin, who headed the Ceylon teacher union, said at most 40% of Sri Lanka 4.3 million students Can participate in online classes.
The majority lack access to devices or connectivity.
The Sri Lankan government on Monday began a campaign to vaccinate all teachers with a view to reopen the school immediately.
