New Delhi: After ending gender discrimination in the issue of permanent commission and command post for female officials in defense forces, the Supreme Court seems to be interested in ensuring gender equality in universities and government managed military schools.
In a temporary order on Wednesday, the court directed that women were allowed to take the entrance examination for the National Defense Academy, which had become a male fortress from the start.
The court also attracted the center to “not adopt” a neutral policy of gender and continued with “discrimination” even though it was not approved by the court, which had passed strong observations while providing a permanent commission for female officers.
SC said the center must take a constructive view and change its policies that perpetuate such “discrimination”.

There is no violation of any fundamental rights only because of the mode of entry available for men and women to join the armed forces,” the center said.
