New Delhi: Twitter has told the Delhi High Court that it was in the “final stage” appointing a temporary head compliance head and temporary resident complaints officers under the rules of new information technology (IT).
Meanwhile, complaints raised by Indian users were being seen by a complaint officer, said in a written statement in response to the request by lawyer Amit Acharya, where he claimed the non-compliance of the new regulations by the platform.
, Micro blogging sites also said they would fall in the definition of “significant social media intermediary” under information technology (intermediary guidelines and digital code of ethics), 2021.
The rules seek to regulate the deployment and publication of content in cyber space, including social media platforms, and notified on February by the central government.
Twitter said in “substantial compliance” with rules 3 (2) and ruled 4 (1) (c) from the new IT rule, he appointed a temporary population complaints officer.
However, even before the steps can be taken to fully formalize the arrangement, the interim resident complaint officer pulled back his nomination on June 21, he said and denied it had not compiled the guidelines for intermediaries.
Twitter said that “before the steps can be taken to fulfill the agreement, the interim resident complaint officer pulled back his nomination at 21.06.2021.
Therefore, respondents (Twitter) are in the final stage pointing the temporary replacement of Indian user complaints being intended by Complaints “.
“Furthermore, respondents were in the final stage appointing a temporary head compliance head,” he told the High Court in a written statement.
In his request, submitted through Akash Vajpai and Manish Kumar advocates, Acharya said that he knew about alleged non-compliance when he tried to file a complaint against several tweets.
Twitter argues that the application cannot be maintained as written and Acharya petitions move the “premature” court without waiting for complaint rules under the rules.
Acharya said it did not have the position of the locus to file a complaint in connection with the tweet in question and add it to have told that complaints have now been considered and discarded.
