Jalore: As a C-130J Hercules aircraft from the Indian Air Force (IAF) touched a 3 km stretch on the NH-925 near the Barmer in an artificial emergency landing on Thursday, the first emergency landing facility on the national highway was early flying.
With three trade union ministers, the mission also paved the way for more elves that would appear on the highway throughout the country.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister for Road Transportation and Jalan Raya Nitin Gadkari inaugurated Elf and watched the plane operation on it.
Union Jal Shakti Minister and Jodhpur MP Gajendra Singh Shekhawat is also on a flight.
Head of Defense Staff General of Bipin Rawat, Head of Air Marshal RKS Bhadauria and other officials attended the inauguration.
TOI on Monday has reported that the union ministers will fly planes as part of the inauguration ceremony of the elf, which is built under the supervision of Nhai, where all types of aircraft IAF can land.
“Even though this is the first runway in this country, we are working on 19 similar projects.
Of these, two more will be in Rajasthan,” Gadkari said.
“By making a strip so close to the international border, we have sent a message that we will defend the unity, diversity, and sovereignty of our country at any cost,” said Rajnath Singh.
Gadkari said Nhai was willing to give land for small airports in the area to be used for defense and civilian purposes.
“This landing strip is proof of inter-operability between different ministries.
Although it usually takes more than a year to build a landing strip, NHAI can do it in 15 days if the IAF wants it,” he added.
Then, in Jaisalmer, Rajnath Singh Inaugurated the Medium Landal Defense System (MRMDS) in IAF.
