Gurugram: The first Lado Panchayat in the city was held in Abhaypur Village, Blok Sohna, on Thursday, and most of the girl attending was demanding that the age of law be raised from 18 to 21 years.
The girls also demanded that government colleges be established for them in Sohna.
On Thursday, the committee of 11 Panchayat members issued a resolution looking for three-year imprisonment provisions and a fine of RS 5 Lakh for parents and other women’s relatives who married earlier.
In Pancayat, which is the first in Gurgaon and the second in the state, was observed that around 80% of women from Sohna were married for a lack of higher education.
This session was organized by Sunil Jaglan, founder of ‘Selfie with the Putri Foundation.
“We have demanded that women’s college be arranged here.
In Sohna, 80% of girls get married as soon as they finish class 12 because there are no colleges for them,” Jaglan said.
On Thursday, several girls and women from all states and from Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Bihar attended this session.
“Our rights should not be less than a boy,” said Rishida (16), from Himachal Pradesh.
Another girl, a student of the South Asian University, New Delhi, said the government must immediately increase the age of marriage today for girls from 18 to 21 years.
