In the first police, k’taka to recruit 8 transgender

Bengaluru: Throwing opening the door for transgender for the first time, Karnataka police invited applications from the community in ongoing recruitment to appoint special reserve subinspectors and scenes of crime officers (Socos).
According to notice published by the Director General of Police Additional (recruitment), five of the 70 posts were encouraged to transgender.
Aspirants can submit their online applications starting December 12 to January 18.
Forensic Science Laboratory has also invited the application to fill 206 crime officer posts with three vacancies provided for transgender.
Candidates have up to January 15 to send an online application.
Civil Service Regulation Karnataka (General Recruitment), 1977, amended to provide reservations1% for transgender.
‘The organization must support Transgenders’ the government has changed the rules of civil service civil service (general recruitment), 1977 in July to provide a 1% reservation for transgender in all recruitment.
“In accordance with government orders, we order five posts for transgender and call for the application,” said Amrit Paul, Director General of Police additional (recruitment).
According to notice, four posts will be filled by transgender for sub-inspector resuptors specifically for the Karnataka state reserve police and one special reserve sub-inspector for Indian reserve battalions.
Transgender must get a certificate from district judges in accordance with the Transgender Regulation (Rights Protection), 2020 notified by the Ministry of Justice and Social Empowerment.
The application will not be considered if the aspiran does not have this certificate.
Sangama, a non-profit NGO that works for the rights of transgender people, welcomes notifications.
“Other organizations must take signals such as those directed by courts and provide livelihood opportunities for them,” said Rajesh Umadevi, Executive Director, Sangama.
