Letter: Botan and Environmental fans in Gujarat watched a phenomenon for the first time.
General limestone butterfly migration (Papilio Demoleus) on a large scale through the country.
Experts argue that large-scale migration such as Gujarat has not been documented scientifically or witnessed in the past.
Butterfly migration is usually seen in southern countries but because this is seen in Gujarat for the first time, fans in all countries observe these butterflies for three days starting on Sunday (July 18) for future reference and studies.
“This is the first time that this kind of large-scale migration was observed in other parts of the country such as Kutch, Saurashtra, but, Narmada and Dahod.
In the past three to four days, it has note that the limestone butterfly in large quantities moves from the north to South, “said Dr.
Sujit Prajapati, a botanist.
Fans of butterflies from various parts of Gujarat will observe lime butterflies for five minutes every half hour between 10am and 5pm.
In addition to observing the direction of migration and their number, their behavior is either nectar, mating, displaying dating behavior or just flying will also be considered.
The flower species where this butterfly will be armed will also be recorded.
All volunteers have been asked to collect their records and send through the Google form.
“The purpose of this exercise is to understand how healthy our Eco system.
The number of butterflies gives us an indication of our eco system.
Also, for future studies, this will help,” said one of these training participants.
He added that the current Gujarat was used as a corridor by this butterfly species to migrate.
“Butterflies have been recorded moving from north to south in Rajasthan and Maharashtra bordering which shows that they passed Gujarat,” he said further.
“Usually, the butterflies migrate vertically to lay eggs, but they migrate wherever they find food.
During the rainy season and post-monsoon, butterflies appear and they travel,” said Dr.
