PANAJI: The state government has released the RS 25.3 lakh as an incentive to three IT companies, three full years after the Goa IT policy, 2018, was formulated.
This is the first time the Information and Technology Department has released any incentives based on the policy.
The Empowerment Committee, led by the Chairperson of the Minister of Pramod Sawant, approved the disbursement of Rs 4.5 lakh for Transerve technology, Rs 10.5 lakh for online productivity solutions and 10.3 lakh Rs for software development.
The Committee, which includes IT Minister Jennifer Monserrate and two other industrial representatives, also provides a nodding on the principle for RS 30.3 lakh to be disbursed to the SAPNA Group, subject to certain conditions that are fulfilled and documentary.
The Information and Technology Department has received 25 applications for incentives, where 10 is screened and approved by the Internal Review Committee.
The panel rejects 12 applications and holds one for further supervision, while two applications require additional documentation.
“This gives me a huge excitement to announce that the IT Goa Department has agreed to nine incentive schemes under the 2018 LT policy for three Goan companies,” Monserrate said.
“By providing this incentive, the government strives to support IT companies in the state and increase the cave position on the map as a power plant.” The meeting was held at the Office of the Ministry of Forestry in Altinho, Panaji.
Department officials said that most IT companies apply subsidies for rent, power and the internet, campus recruitment assistance, and rebate built-up land incentives.
“Most companies employ goans so they approach 100% of incentives.
But the response from IT companies is not good.
More companies must advance,” said an official.
While Goa has at least 100 startups and IT companies, only 21 companies are applied to registration based on IT policy, where 15 is approved.
