In the future, the bar might have to appoint drivers to drop drunk customers at home: Minister of Transportation Goa

Panaji: around 5,000 accidents that occur in cave every year, where about 4,500 people are injured and around 300-350 people lose their lives.
Therefore, on average, one person died every day in Goa in an accident on the road, revealed the data distributed by the Directorate of Transportation at the 10th Safety Week Launch of the 10th Goa Road on Monday.
Speaking on that occasion, Minister of Transportation Mauvin Godinho said that there would be an initiative to put the designated driver near the bar to drop drunk people and thus avoided potential accidents.
“In the long run, we will realize a law where it will be mandatory for all places near the watering hole to have a driver who is placed that can drop them drunk.
We want tourists here and we want them to enjoy but they have to follow the rules Traffic while they are here, “he said.
Appeal to the public to advance to keep the cave safe from the accident, he urged them to follow a safe driving technique.

For weeks of road safety, special vehicles have been designed by the Department of Transportation to create awareness that will continue to operate until October 31.
This vehicle was launched from the terminus of the Kadamba Bus in Panaji, which was in a dilapidated condition.
“We have set aside Rs 1.7 Crore to be tendered for repair work that will take off in December,” he said.
Awareness will spread throughout the state through street drama, films on the screen and other ways.
Special Chariots have been arranged to convey the message that helmets, and gears are fully needed when driving a two-wheeled vehicle.
