LONDON: England on Thursday begged people to comply with louder restrictions to slow down the spread of the omicron coronavirus variant after revelation about alleged party locking at Prime Minister Johnson’s residence triggered hypocrisy.
Johnson imposed restrictions in England on Wednesday, just a few hours after apologizing for the video showing the staff laughing about the party at Downing Street for 2020 Christmas Covid Lockdown when the celebration was prohibited for the population.
Rules, including orders to work from home, use masks in public and use vaccine trajectories, failed from locking, but angered several members of parliament in Johnson’s own party and the retail and recreation sector that said they were hammered.
But the disclosure of a series of 2020 Christmas meetings – Johnson spokesman who was rejected was a party – provocation of anger, ridicule and disgust due to feeling of hypocrisy felt in the heart of British power.
Asked why people – who at the time of the party was prevented from the farewell offer to dying relatives with Covid – must comply with the government, Health Secretary Sajid Javid said the rules applied to everyone.
“Nothing is excluded.
There is no one above the rules, above the law about this,” Javid said, who said he was angry and upset with Downing Street’s video staff jokingly about how to direct potential reporter questions on the lock.
Feast.
England acted, he said, after receiving tentative scientific evidence that Omicron was better able to infect people with immunity to Covid-19 and that it spread faster than those studied by other variants.
Javid said Omicron could lead to around 1 million infections throughout the UK at the end of the month if the transmission continues at the current level.
Scientific advisor said England could face more than 1,000-2,000 inpatient omicron per day if no action was taken – a number that would quickly flood national health services and prevent other emergency treatments.
“I hope that most people will understand that by taking a decisive action now, we have the potential to avoid actions later,” Javid said.
Asked whether harder steps could be applied in January, Javid said: “No.
I hope not.” However, several members of the Johnson parliament were not happy with the new steps they feared to damage the British economy in a busy pre-Christmas period.
Downing Street denied that there was a party and Johnson said he had convinced the meeting did not damage the rules of Covid.
British media has reported a series of parties at Downing Street at that time.
Johnson apologized, but he had faced opposition calls for his resignation and was tapped by the media on Thursday morning.
“One rule for them, the new rules for all of us,” a daily letter, the most newspaper in the UK, said on the front page.
The sun said, “Do it as I said not when I was Christmas”.
The most senior civil servants in the UK, the case of the Secretary of the Simon Cabinet, was assigned by Johnson by investigating the December Street Downing meeting, attended by around 40-50 people, and such events.
This is the latest incident in the trail of the scandal above Johnson members of the government violated locking rules.
He defended the decision of the Aide Dominic Cummings to direct 250 miles from London to get a child care while he suspected he had Covid-19 while Britons were locked in 2020 to reduce the initial wave of the disease.
Then Matt Hancock’s health minister stopped in June after he was caught violating the Covid-19 rule by kissing and embracing the aide in his office, utilizing colleagues and the public who had lived under the lock.
Johnson has been criticized for handling pandemic.
The UK has seen around 146,000 deaths from Covid-19, the 7th highest victim in the world.
