Roshnabad: About two months ago, Rahul Kumar set up a roadside restaurant in Roshnabad.
It’s on the road in the village.
Then one day, a group of dominant caste men asked him to close it.
“They said their car could not pass if the establishment of Dalit was on his way,” Kumar, 20, said on Friday.
Schisma caste ran away in this village, home to Vandana Katariya, Indian first woman to score a hat-trick at the Olympics.
The houses were stacked along the clear caste line and everyone was mostly attached to their side.
On Wednesday, three people from the dominant caste allegedly harassed the Vandana family with the insult of Casteist after the Indian women’s hockey team was lost in the semi-finals.
While the incident surprised the nation, Dalits here said it was not new to them.
“This is not our first time oppressed,” Kumar said.
Vandana’s brother, Shekhar said, “We treat everyone with respect but the dominant caste seems to hold a grudge against us.
After what we went through, no one from the top caste came to us.” The Uttarakhandia Human Rights Commission on Friday took the conscious report on the incident and asked HariDwar SSP to submit a report, adding Kautilya Singh from Dehradun.
Meanwhile, two Twitter accounts were suspended after Vandana marked them on the verified social media account.
“My family and I will go through a very difficult time ….
this is a humble request to some people not to increase my problem.
I see people make my fake account and share tweets from them,” (my sic) He posted on Instagram and Twitter.
